Abstract

Application processors for tablets can be clearly segmented based on price criterion. While Apple and Samsung continue to lead the tablet market, Chinese value-line and mid-range tablets using mainly processors from MediaTek and Chinese processor manufacturers like Allwinner, Rockchip and Amlogic also see their importance grow. Spurred by the CTE (China Technique Ecosystem) strategy and the rollout of Atom Bay Trail quad-core processors in 2014, Intel witnessed a higher market share growth, thereby giving the company a chance to crack ARM's market dominance. This report provides an overview of global tablet market development and examines strategic product planning of individual international, Chinese and Taiwanese tablet processor providers.
