Abstract

This report presents worldwide mobile phone market forecast, including a review of recent years and a forecast for the period 2008-2015, with breakdowns by system technology and region. It also examines mobile phone market volume and market share by system technology for all the world's main regions separately, including North America, Latin America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific (including Japan). The report finds that the worldwide mobile phone market's growth increased considerably in 2010, growing by 14.3% compared to 2009, primarily due to the global economic rebound. Mobile phone market volume in Western Europe and North America continued the downward trend in 2010 and is expected to continue into 2011. The Asia Pacific mobile phone market volume enjoyed a steady growth in 2010 and the growth momentum is anticipated to continue well into 2011 and thereafter. The increase in GSM mobile phone market share was offset by the rising share of WCDMA/HSPA phones in 2010. It is anticipated that the global mobile phone market volume, which enjoyed double-digit year-on-year growth in 2010, will continue to grow at a steady pace in 2011 and thereafter.
