Abstract

As of the second quarter of 2016, Chinese mobile phone users reached 1.3 billion people with 4G penetration rate hitting 45.3%. Smartphone sales topped 1.08 million units. Huawei remained the No.1 mobile phone vendor in China, while OPPO moved to second position for the first time, previously held by Xiaomi. In other words, the top three mobile phone vendors in the Chinese market were all domestic brands. This report analyzes the development of mobile carriers and branded vendors in China to provide a clear picture of the Chinese smartphone market in the second and third quarters of 2016.
