Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) hosts the 37th annual MIC FORUM Fall, themed "AI Smart Chain: Now & Next", from September 10 to 12 in Taipei, Taiwan. The forum will present semiconductor market forecasts and focus on four key AI-related themes: AI ecosystem, computing power deployment, sustainability, and emerging applications. These insights will help industry leaders anticipate 2025 trends and shape strategic planning. This year's forum marks the first time an international panel of experts will kick off the event, featuring perspectives from Europe, the UK, Japan, and Taiwan. The discussions will explore topics of global interest, including digital sovereignty and AI supply chain dynamics.
On September 10, MIC is to host a dialogue with international experts. The first session will focus on digital sovereignty in the context of growing global economic security concerns, while the second session will address the current state of the global AI supply chain and potential opportunities for Taiwan, providing forward-looking international insights for Taiwanese businesses. Speakers include experts from the University of Nottingham (UK), the Centre for European Reform (CER), the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE), the Japan Institute of Geoeconomics, and others. MIC Director General Chris Hung will moderate the second session on the AI supply chain.
On September 11, MIC will shift focus to AI industry development and computing power deployment. MIC will unveil Taiwan's semiconductor industry value forecast, highlighting the business opportunities AI trends are creating for the semiconductor sector and examining the technology shifts driven by AI applications. Key topics include the competitive dynamics between tech giants, the geopolitical implications of AI trends, and how AI is reshaping the information technology ecosystem. MIC will also reveal penetration rate forecasts for popular AI-powered end devices like PCs and smartphones, shedding light on how these trends are driving component upgrades. Regarding AI computing power, MIC’s research team will focus on telecom AI applications, reviewing key AI solutions from network communications companies and discussing green business opportunities arising from the energy demands of data centers. The AI-driven digital government trend will also be a key topic.
On September 12, the forum will center on AI sustainability and net-zero goals, as well as emerging AI applications. MIC will examine AI's role in supporting net-zero and ESG efforts, highlighting the growing power demand driven by AI and the challenges Taiwanese companies face in sourcing green energy. The conference will offer seven key recommendations for companies on green energy procurement and management. Emerging AI applications will also be discussed, focusing on the increasing adoption of AI across industries and the resulting opportunities in model management. With AI lifecycle management becoming a critical issue for global companies, MIC will explore three major trends in AI Agent development and examine the potential of virtual technologies such as virtual humans, XR, and the metaverse. The final session will analyze AI's role in smart factory applications, providing manufacturers with guidelines for adopting generative AI.
