Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) conducted an online survey in the fourth quarter of 2023, unveiling its findings on Taiwanese netizens' views on the metaverse. This "Metaverse Intent Survey" explores netizens' awareness of the metaverse, their belief in the realization of a metaverse era, their interest in metaverse application scenarios, and the social issues arising from its development.
The survey revealed that 28% of respondents believe they understand the metaverse, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. However, 40% still claim they do not fully grasp the concept. Over the past two years, awareness of the metaverse among Taiwanese netizens has not seen significant change. This may be due to the fact that Taiwan still requires more time for market acceptance, compared to regions like Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, where the acceptance of virtual technologies is relatively higher.
Senior Industry Analyst Wallace Lin highlighted that when respondents were asked about their belief in the arrival of the metaverse era, 43.7% expressed agreement, while only 16% disagreed. This indicates that despite the metaverse moving beyond the initial hype and into a more pragmatic phase of development, a significant portion of Taiwanese netizens still believe in its potential. The findings reflect continued optimism among Taiwanese netizens toward the future of the metaverse.
Question: Do you agree that the era of the Metaverse will arrive?
(S ingle choice, after explaining the basic concept of the Metaverse)
Note: A total of 1,068, and 2,500 valid samples were collected in 2023 and 2022, respectively
