MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute) conducted the 2022 consumer server on mobile payment usage rates and the findings show that the usage rate of mobile payments exceeded 70% for the first time in Taiwan. While the gap between mobile payments and physical bank cards continues to narrow, mobile payments have become the preferred payment method for consumers making purchases in physical and online stores.

The frequency of mobile payment usage continues to increase in both physical and online stores. The number of users who increased their frequency of usage in physical stores increased by 15.5%, while the number of users who increased their frequency of usage in online stores increased by 4.9%, according to MIC.
