Over 30% of Taiwanese Consumers Pay Online Delivery Services by Mobile Payment, Overtaking Cash in 2022 for the First Time: MIC

Up to 31.4% of Taiwanese consumers paid their online delivery services by mobile payment in 2022, surpassing cash's 29.8% for the first time, according to Robin Hu, senior industry analyst with MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute) who conducted one-month online survey in the fourth quarter of 2022 with 2,500 effective samples. "While credit card remains the most popular payment method as up to 68.8% of Taiwanese people prefer such method when they need online delivery services, mobile payment has taken the second place, followed by cash," Hu added. Based on the findings, Taiwanese consumers aged 18-25 who prefer to pay by mobile payment for online delivery services was increased by 7.3% in 2022 compared to last year. However, consumers in this age group paid by cash were reduced by 12.9% year-on-year in 2022 and by credit card were also decreased by 6.7%.
