"The instable supply of PMIC (Power management integrated circuits) has affected 5G smartphone shipments. Meanwhile, as all chipmakers focus mainly on filling the gap for 5G chips, 4G chips have suffered more severe shortages compared to 5G chips during supply chain constraints,” says Rachel Liao, an industry analyst with the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute in Taipei.

Established in 1987, MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute) is a division of III (Institute for Information Industry), a major government think tank and IT research institute in Taiwan.
