Over 50% of Smartphones Will be AI-Embedded by 2019: MIC
August 30, 2018

Due to the year-on-year decline in the first quarter of 2018 in China, the US, and Europe, as well as the impact of uncertainty in the market caused by the US-China trade war, the global smartphone shipments in 2018 have been revised down slightly with the industry's year-on-year growth expected to be similar to that in 2017, according to Taipei-based, government-backed research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). "While the long-awaited 5G smartphones are likely to hit the market in 2019, over 50% of smartphones will be embedded with AI processors by 2019," says Eddie Han, senior industry analyst with MIC.
