June 07, 2018

With the rising demand of Europe and US markets, shipment value of the Taiwanese semiconductor industry is estimated to reach nearly NT$2.4 trillion (USD 82.2 billion; USD1 = NT$ 29.2) and grow lower than the global average at 5.8% in 2018 compared to 2017, according to Taipei-based, government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). "Globally, the semiconductor market is forecast to grow at 6.9% this year compared to last year, despite of the declining PC demand and the restricted smartphone growth," says Jessica Hsu, senior industry analyst with MIC.
