The Taiwanese Communications Industry Expects 7.4% Year-on-year Growth in 2018: MIC

Driven mainly by the mobile communications sector, shipment value of the Taiwanese communications industry is estimated to reach nearly NT$3.5 trillion (USD 119.9 billion; USD1 = NT$ 29.2), up 7.4% year-on-year, according to Taipei-based, government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). "The mobile communications sector will take up 67% of Taiwan's communications industry this year, increasing slightly compared to the previous two years" says Remus Hsu, senior industry analyst with MIC.

"Despite the industry expects a mild growth this year, currency fluctuations and the shortage of key components are two risk factors in the second half of 2018 that may erode vendors' profits this year."
