Commercial Replacement Demand and "Coffee Lake" Bolstering Global Desktop PC Market in 2018: MIC
April 28, 2018

Global desktop PC shipment volume dropped below 100 million units in 2017 to 98 million units, down 5.3% year-on-year, according to Taipei-based and government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). "The decline is attributed mainly to the lukewarm market demand for the Intel Kaby Lake CPU launched in January 2018," says Wen-Hua Hsu, industry analyst with MIC.

"Nevertheless, it is anticipated that Intel's Coffee Lake and Windows 10 replacement demand will bolster commercial desktop PC market demand in 2018. Hence, the industry decline in 2018 is forecast to be lower than 2017, with shipment volume to reach about 97.1 million units."
