With the increasing demand for data computing and data storage in the age of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Intel's new series of 'Purley' Xeon are expected to significantly bolster the Taiwanese server shipments next year, according to Taipei-based IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). "By assembly level, shipment volume of servers shipped at the full system and barebones levels is estimated to reach 1.249 million units in the first quarter of 2018, representing a 9.9% sequential and a 41.4% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, server motherboard shipment volume also is anticipated to witness a 27.3% sequential and a whopping 66.6% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2018, to approximately 1.73 million units," says Cliff Kung, industry analyst with MIC.
