When it comes to shipment volume of four major home appliances in China from January to December in 2016 based on statistics by China's National Bureau of Statistics, the refrigerator industry topped 92.4 million units, up 4.6% year-on-year; the air conditioner industry reached 160.5 million units, up 4.5% year-on-year; the washing machine industry hit 76.2 million units, up 4.9% year-on-year; the LCD TV industry reached 174.8 million units, up 8.7% year-on-year.

"Chinese homegrown brands have accounted for a majority share in local home appliances, especially washing machine, refrigerator, and air conditioner. In January 2017, Haier and Littleswan accounted for over 40% of the Chinese washing machine market, while Haier and Midea took up for nearly 40% of the refrigerator market. As for air conditioners, Gree and Midea had a whopping share of over 60%. The Chinese LCD market concentration is relatively low and is more equally distributed, with Hisense and Haier being the top two brands in terms of sales volume in January 2017, according to MIC (Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute), a Taipei-based research institute.
