Shipment volume of the Taiwanese server industry on full system & barebones levels totaled 1.05 million units in the second quarter of 2016, while on board level hit 1.24 million units, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a Taipei-based IT research institute. "With the demand for servers being deferred, the industry's shipment performance in the second quarter of 2016 was surprisingly good, enjoying 19.4% year-on-year and 25.4% sequential growth," says Pei-fen Hsieh, senior analyst with MIC.

"With design and manufacturing capabilities, Taiwanese makers have secured the majority share in the global server motherboard market. Due to the diversified market demand, some makers are unable to get server motherboard orders from brands. This has shed the light for Taiwanese manufacturers as they are capable of providing servers on the system- and barebones-levels to system integrators or customers possessing own integration capability such as chassis makers."
