Seasonal Rush for Gaming PCs to Bolster Global Motherboard and Desktop PC Shipments in 2H 2016: MIC
September 01, 2016

Shipment volume of the global motherboard and desktop PC industry is forecast to top 59.3 million and 52.92 million units, respectively, in the second half of 2016, with each representing over 5% growth compared to the first half of 2016, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a Taipei-based IT research institute. "The motherboard industry has done relatively well in the third quarter of 2016 due largely in part to the increased gaming demand during the summer vacation period and the availability of higher-performance graphics for gaming motherboards," says Claire Lin, industry analyst with MIC.

MIC is proud to announce that the 29th MIC Forum will be held on September 6-14 in Taipei (Sep 6-8, 13-14), Hsinchu (Sep 9) and Kaohsiung (Sep 9). Come and visit our event website at https://mic.iii.org.tw/micnew/Event/Event_Major.aspx?acno=ACT201607001 to know more!

Worldwide Motherboard Shipment Volume, 1Q 2014 - 4Q 2016

"The deferred shipment of Intel's new platform Kaby Lake, coupled with the lack of strong growth incentives, is anticipated to drag the global motherboard and desktop PC shipments in the fourth quarter of 2016. While the second-half growth of motherboard shipments will be highly correlated to sales of gaming graphics, the desktop PC shipment performance will depend mainly on potential replacement demand for commercial desktop PCs."
