"The global tablet market volume is estimated at 183.5 million units, down 11.1% year-on-year," says Chung-yu Yang, senior analyst with MIC.
Worldwide Tablet Market Volume by Panel Size, 2013-2016
Source: MIC, July 2016
"While 7" and 8-9.x" tablets witnessed declines, tablets with screen sizes larger than 10" increased to 19% in 2015 up from 15.2% in 2014, owing to growing needs for 2-in-1 tablets. Their shipment volume is anticipated to grow by 20% and their share to reach 25.6% in 2016. The momentum will be coming from branded vendors' aggressive move into the development and marketing of new 2-in-1 tablets."
