The Ministry of Finance reported that Taiwan's exports have expanded for the third consecutive month to reach US$26.6 billion in April—the second highest recorded value in April—thanks to strong outbound shipments of electronic products, according to the Economic Daily News on May 8. On a year-on-year basis, electronic products grew 14.7% to arrive at US$8.16 billion, solar cell exports soared around 60%, and IC and LED products both saw double-digit growth in the last month. Overall, Taiwan's overseas shipments to major economies showed year-on-year growth: 5.5% to Asian countries, 6.9% to the United States, and over 10% to Europe, said the Ministry.
