HTC said that the company has always been open to the option of outsourcing its smartphone production, partially or entirely, to contract manufacturers, adding that the strategy will give the company more flexibility to focus on technology-intensive products, according to Taiwan's Commercial Times on May 7. It is reported that the company has outsourced at least three mid-range models to Taiwan's Compal Electronics and China's Wingtek Group this year. However, HTC will continue to keep the production of its flagship model M8 and the mid-range phone Desire 816 in house, said the company.
