January 21, 2014

Lenovo is reportedly to reduce one third of its contract manufacturing orders for notebook PCs in 2014, aiming to increase its in-house production rate to 50%, reported United Evening News on January 20. Lienpal (Hefei), a joint venture established by Lenovo and Compal Electronics, began mass production in the end of 2012 with a maximum monthly capacity of two million units. It is expected to churn out 12 million to 14 million units in 2014, becoming Lenovo's largest production site. In addition to desktop PC and notebook PC, tablet will also be an important product to be manufactured in Lienpal. Currently, Lenovo's contract manufacturing partners include Compal, ECS, Wistron, Quanta, and Pegatron.
