China Mobile to Sell iPhone on 17 January 2014
December 25, 2013

China Mobile and Apple have reached a long-awaited deal to sell iPhone 5S and 5C starting January 17, 2014, with pre-registration beginning on December 25, 2013, as reported by China's Xinhua News Agency. Due to the compatibility issue of the operator's 3G technology, known as TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access), China Mobile subscribers previously were not able to use Apple's iPhone. Boasting over 760 million subscribers, China Mobile now has over 1.2 million base stations and over 4.2 million Wi-Fi access points, and is looking forward to bringing 4G services to over 340 cities across China by end-2014. Details of pricing and availability for iPhone 5S and 5C remain to be disclosed.
