Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi, which managed to sell more smartphones than Apple's iPhones in China, said that it will cooperate with Taiwan-based Wistron to make its smart TVs, taking advantage of the latter's experience in contract manufacturing high-end TVs for Sony, as reported by Bloomberg on September 9. Xiaomi's TV, which is slated for launch in this October at around $2,999 RMB (US$490), features a 47-inch display panel supplied by LG and Samsung, Google Android OS, and Internet connectivity. However, information regarding the production volume for the devices is yet to be disclosed.
