Acer Provides Education Cloud Solution to Thai University

Taiwan-based PC branded vendor Acer has provided Acer Smart Cloud Builder solution to Rangsit University in Thailand, helping the institution to improve administrative efficiency, minimize resources, and reduce costs, as reported by Taiwan's Commercial Times on August 23. The cloud solution consists of Acer servers, storage devices, hypervisors, and a cloud management platform—CSP (Cloud Smart Portal), and is flexible to scale up for future needs. Acer is also rolling out CSP Lite Edition for SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) in Thailand.

 

In related news, Lenovo has launched low-cost tablets in Thailand, pricing at less than $4,000 Thai baht (US$125.14; US$1=$31.965 Thai baht) while HP began selling value-line tablet Slate 7 at $4,990 Thai baht in August. Both companies are targeting at the low-cost sector in the Thai PC market.
