Corning, Samsung to Establish TFT-LCD Glass Plant in China

Corning, Samsung, and China's Wuxi New District government jointly signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to build a TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) glass plant in China, according to a July 24, 2012 report by Reuters. It is estimated that the new facility is valued at US$600 million. TFT-LCD glass produced at the plant is reported to be used in notebook PCs and LCD monitors. Samsung Corning Precision Materials, an equity venture between Samsung and Corning, is projected to shift some of its capacity to the new plant in China.
