Notebook PC Trends at Computex 2012
June 08, 2012
Ultra-thin and lightweight design, touchscreen application, and advanced A/V effects are expected to be the focal areas at Computex 2012. It is projected that screen sizes of Ultrabooks will range from 13.3-inch to 15.6-inch. As AMD plans to release the next generation APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) in the second quarter of 2012, various related Ultra-thin products will be introduced during this period with a price tag lower than that of the current Intel Ultrabook products. In anticipation of the launch of new Windows 8 due to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2012, touchscreen feature is likely to become another market spotlight, and numerous branded vendors will demonstrate their new models, mainly application concept and hardware specifications, to be released at year-end. Vendors are projected to present improvements on audio quality of notebook PCs at Computex 2012; while 3D feature will deliver higher resolution. FHD models with 13.3-inch screen size are expected and 15.6-inch products will begin to offer a resolution of 2560x1400.
