Samsung Plans to Build Flash Memory Chip Manufacturing Plant in China

Samsung Electronics said on December 6, 2011 that the company plans to set up a production line for flash memory chips in China, according to a report by Reuters. Samsung's move is reported to target at the growing market demand for Smartphones and tablet PCs. Operation of the new plant is scheduled to kick off in 2013, and the plant is expected to adopt 20-nm process technology. If approved, the new plant is projected to be Samsung's second chip production site overseas; nevertheless, investment amount and plant location are yet to be decided.
