Compal Electronics and Microsoft have entered into a patent agreement, according to an October 25, 2011 report by the Economic Daily News of Taiwan. It is reported that the agreement provides coverage of Microsoft's patent portfolio for Compal's e-readers, tablet products, mobile phones, and other consumer devices running on the Android or Chrome OS platforms. As per the agreement, Compal will have to pay royalties to Microsoft. Contents and financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
