Samsung Electronics announced the launch of a new production line on September 22, 2011 for memory chips used in Smartphones and tablet devices, according to the Wall Street Journal. Aiming to secure its dominance in the semiconductor industry, Samsung is reported to invest approximately US$10.2 billion in the new production line in 2011 and 2012. Samsung also said that the company is going to begin mass producing DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) computer memory chips by adopting 20-namometer process technology.
