It is reported that Apple plans to invest in a Sharp LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) plant, aiming to secure stable LCD screen supplies for iPhones and iPads, according to an August 17, 2011 report by Reuters. The investment is estimated at US$1 billion. Sharp is said to have already struck a deal with Apple to supply power-efficient screens for Apple's sixth-generation iPhone products scheduled to be launched in 2012, according to the same source.
