Compal announced on July 13, 2011 the purchase of Toshiba's LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV assembly plant located in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, according to the China Times of Taiwan. The deal is slated to be completed by the end of the third quarter, 2011. Financial details were not disclosed. It is reported that Compal's move is aimed to expand the company's LCD TV production flexibility and at the same time, strengthen its ties with Toshiba.
