AUO inaugurated its LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) plant in Trencin, Slovakia on June 28, 2011, according to a report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. It is reported that the plant will concentrate on manufacturing, assembly, and sales of large-sized LCD modules for TV manufacturers nearby. Monthly production capacity of the new plant is estimated to reach approximately 240,000 units of LCD modules by the end of 2011. When operating at full capacity, AUO's Slovakia plant is expected to create as many as 3,000 jobs by 2012.
