Hon Hai and Sharp are in talks over an extensive cooperation agreement, according to a June 9, 2011 report by the Taipei Times of Taiwan. As per the agreement, the two companies will team up for jointly purchasing components used for LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel manufacturing. It is reported that the two companies are also considering establishing LCD production plants overseas, targeting at markets in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

Hon Hai also confirms its plan to invest US$12 billion in building an electronic component supply chain in Brazil. The supply chain is projected to be set up in three to five years.
