Kyocera announced on April 28, 2011 that the company plans to invest approximately 30 billion yen (US$367.6 million; US$1=81.6 yen) in establishing a plant near Hanoi, Vietnam, according to the Japan Today. It is reported that the new plant will concentrate on manufacturing printers, copiers, and electronic parts for mobile phones. Construction of the new plant is slated to start by the end of 2011, while operation is scheduled to begin by late 2012. Kyocera said the new plant will be the company's first manufacturing base in Vietnam.
