LG, ARM Ink Licensing Agreement

LG Electronics announced that the company has signed a licensing agreement with ARM, according to an April 26, 2011 report by the EE Times. It is reported that Cortex-A15 MPCore, Cortex-A9 MPCore processors, Mali-T604 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), CoreLink, and system IP are included in the agreement. The cores are projected to be used to drive a platform-based strategy in applications that cover digital TVs, STBs (Set-top-Boxes), mobile phones, tablet devices, and smart grid electricity supply. LG first licensed ARM in 1995.
