Acer unveiled its company restructuring plans to meet challenges posed by Apple's iPad, according to an April 20, 2011 report by the Wall Street Journal. Currently, Acer has two divisions, one is the Smartphone division, and the other one is the IT division, housing the company's notebook PC, tablet PC, and netbook PC operations. It is reported that Acer will put the tablet PC and Smartphone operations under one division and the other division will be responsible for notebook PC and netbook PC production. Acer's new president is projected to become the head of the new tablet PC and Smartphone division.
