Foxconn Plans to Invest US$12 Bln in Brazil over Five Years

Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff said on April 12, 2011 during her visit to China that the Brazilian government is in talks with Foxconn over an investment plan, according to the China Times of Taiwan. It is reported that Foxconn plans to invest US$12 billion in Brazil over five years. According to Brazil's science and technology minister, Brazil and Foxxonn have been discussing the investment plan for three months, and currently, the two sides are talking over various details, such as financing, taxes, logistics, factory locations, and broadband infrastructure. The minister also said that Foxconn is projected to begin iPad assembly operations in Brazil by the end of November 2011, according to the same source.
