P1 (Packet One) announced on April 5, 2011 that the company will start a pilot commercial trial for LTE TDD (Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex) by the end of 2011, according to the Bernama. It is reported that P1 has submitted a business plan to MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) for LTE roll out approval. P1 projects to upgrade and enable its WiMAX network to co-exist with LTE TDD by the end of 2012. Financial details of the upgrade cost is yet unknown. P1 said the company currently covers 45% of the population, and the company aims to boost this number to 65% by the end of 2012, according to the same source.
