Pegatron to Establish New Plant; Boost Investment in China

Taiwan EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) provider Pegatron announced on January 26, 2011 that the company will spend US$49 million on establishing a new production plant in Chongqing, China, according to the Commercial Times of Taiwan. Volume production of the new plant is slated to begin in the third quarter or fourth quarter of 2011. Dubbed Shi Shao Technology, it is reported that the new plant will focus on notebook PC production at initial stage.

Meanwhile, Pegatron also plans to further invest US$55 million in two companies, Ri-Teng Computer and Ri-Min Computer, located in Shanghai, China. It is reported that Pegatron's move is aimed to enhance the company's supple of components and modules.
