LG Display Resumes LCD Panel Supply Agreement with Sony

LG Display announced on January 5, 2011 that the company has entered into a TV panel supply agreement with Sony, according to the Reuters. As per the agreement, LG will supply Sony with small- to medium-sized LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV panels. Sony and Samsung set up a LCD joint venture in 2004, and LG ended the TV panel supply agreement with Sony since then. It is reported that the supply agreement between LG and Sony was resumed in late 2010, but other details, such as volume or value of the agreement, are not disclosed.

LG Display said that 3D TV market will experience significant growth this year, and the company aims to take up 70% share in the 3D LCD TV market worldwide.
