Acer and local Chongqing city government of China signed an agreement on December 1, 2010 to establish the company's second operation center in China and a production base in the city, according to the Commercial Times of Taiwan. Chongqing is the only municipality in western China, located in Sichuan Province. The investment plan in Chongqing was unveiled in November 2010 by Acer, and it is reported that the investment there is estimated at US$150 million. The new center is slated for operation in early January 2011, with an initial head count of approximately 30 to 40 employees. Acer is expected to move most of its notebook PC manufacturing operations to the new production base in the next two to three years.
