China to Build Cloud Computing Valley in Harbin

China plans to build a complete industry chain of cloud computing in Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjing Province located in northeastern China, over the next three years, according to a November 22, 2010 report by the People's Daily of China. Dubbed Cloud Computing Valley, the industry chain is projected to include a cloud computing center, an innovation and R&D base, and a business incubator base. It is reported that the valley will be used to foster could computing-related industries, for example, Internet of Things, software and service outsourcing, film, TV and new media production, and animation production. The economic scale of the industry chain is valued at three billion RMB (US$451.1 million; US$1=6.65 RMB).
