PC manufacturer Lenovo confirmed on November 12, 2010 that the company projects
to launch its first tablet PC in China and the US in 2011, according to the
Wall Street Journal. Dubbed LePad, the new tablet PC is scheduled to hit the
Chinese market in early 2011. It is reported that the selling price of LePad is
yet to be announced. Currently, the company is considering whether to adopt Google's
Chrome operating system on the LePad.
Meanwhile,
Lenovo also announced on the same day that the company will invest 100 million
RMB (US$15.06 million; US$1=6.64 RMB) in supporting developers who develop
mobile Internet applications and services that are compatible with the LePad,
according to the same source.
