- Indian government has agreed to provide subsidies to the state-owned
telecom operator BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) for supporting the
company's WiMAX operations in rural India, according to a November 6, 2010
report by the Economic Times. It is reported that BSNL's WiMAX project is
divided into three phases, and the government will offer funds to the first two
phases. BSNL said that the company is about to complete the construction of phase
one, according to the same source.
- Chinese telecom equipment supplier ZTE has
entered into a supply agreement to provide ZAPP.PT with 3G/4G equipment and
services in Portugal, according to a November 11, 2010 report by the Business
Wire. As per the agreement, ZTE is expected to supply ZAPP.PT with Uni-RAN (Radio
Access Network) mobile network equipment, Uni-Core core network equipment,
and services. ZAPP.PT's Wimax service in Portugal is expected to be launched by
mid 2011.
