Samsung, SK Telecom Team up for Galaxy Tab Roll Out in Korea

Samsung announced on November 4, 2010 that the company has granted exclusive right to SK Telecom to sell Galaxy Tab tablet PC in Korea, according to the Wall Street Journal. It is reported that Galaxy Tab will be available in the Korean market starting from mid November. SK Telecom was the first telecom operator to sell Samsung's Galaxy S Smartphone in Korea in late June this year. Samsung estimates that approximately one million units of the seven-inch Galaxy Tab will be sold by year end, and the company is planning to offer other sizes of tablet PCs next year. It is expected that Galaxy Tab will hit the US and Japanese markets starting from November this year.

In related news, Korean telecom operator KT plans to release Apple's iPad in Korea in November this year as well. KT is the exclusive distributor of iPhone. Another Korean company LG Electronics announced on November 4, 2010 that it will introduce the company's first tablet device in the first quarter of 2011.
