Samsung to Partner with DoCoMo on Galaxy Product Sales in Japan

Samsung Electronics announced that the company plans to sell its Galaxy S
Smartphone and Galaxy Tab tablet device in Japan via the Japanese telecom
operator NTT DoCoMo, according to an October 5 report by the Wall Street
Journal. The Japanese market is considered to be dominated by local mobile phone
makers, and Samsung's move this time is aimed at boosting the company's
presence in the Japanese market, according to the same source. DoCoMo is
expected to launch the Galaxy S at the end of October this year, while Galaxy
Tab is scheduled to be introduced in the late November. Both Galaxy S and
Galaxy Tab will run on the Android operating system, and the Smartphone is
expected to sell at nearly 30,000 Yen (US$362; US$1=82.9 Yen), and the tablet
device is projected to cost 40,000 Yen (US$483) to 45,000(US$543) Yen. It is
estimated that up to now, approximately five million Galaxy S Smartphones have
been sold worldwide, according to Samsung.
