Sintek to Invest US$280 Mln in Expanding Touch Panel Production

Taiwanese CF (Color Filter) maker Sintek Photronic announced that the company will establish a new 4.5G touch panel plant in Southern Taiwan Science Park, according to a September 25, 2010 report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. It is reported that trial production of the new plant is slated for the third quarter of 2011, and mass production is slated for the fourth quarter. The new plant aims to produce 70,000 to 90,000 substrates each month.

Sintek Photronic also said that the company has purchased a production plant from HannStar, the acquired plant was originally planned to be used as a CF 6G factory. Combining the purchase of the HannStar plant, it is estimated that Sintek will invest a total of NT$8.8 billion (US$280.2 million; US$1=NT$31.4) in expanding its touch panel production.
