ZTE Launches LTE Trial Network for Telkomsel

Chinese telecom equipment supplier ZTE announced
that the company has entered into a LTE (Long Term Evolution) trial agreement
with Indonesian telecom operator Telkomsel, according to a September 21 press release
by ZTE. Telkomsel is a major telecom operator in Indonesia, with a subscriber
base of more than 92 million, accounting for more than half of the market
share, according to the press release again. Pursuant to the agreement, ZTE's
SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology is projected to be used to upgrade
Telkomsel's 2G and 3G services to LTE. It is reported that ZTE has started
providing its LTE solutions for Telkomsel's LTE trial network since August 2010.
