Taiwanese telecom operator Far EasTone confirmed
that the company is going to build a TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution)
testing lab with Taiwan-based Smartphone maker HTC, according to a September
20, 2010 report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. The testing lab is projected
to be located in Far Eastone's T-Park in northern Taiwan. It is reported that the
facility will be open to chipset makers, terminal device manufacturers, and
vendors related to TD-LTE business worldwide.
In related news, Far EasTone said that the
company has invited China Mobile to open a new 4G R&D center in Taiwan,
according to the same source. Through the establishment of the R&D center, it
is projected that Taiwanese manufacturers will be able to win the opportunities
of developing customized products for China Mobile.
