Samsung Presents 30 Trillion Won Investment Plans for 2011

Samsung
announced on September 3, 2010 at the consumer electronics show IFA held in
Berlin, Germany that the company plans to inject approximately 30 trillion Won
(US$25.55 billion; US$1=1174.1 Won) in 2011 investment plans, according to the
Wall Street Journal. It is reported that the investment plans aim to cultivate
new businesses and boost the company's existing operations, such as
biotechnology and health care segments via mergers or acquisitions. Samsung
said that the current chip market is as good as the company originally expected,
and the company's cost competitiveness is able to alleviate the problems
resulted from lowered chip prices, according to the same source.
