Compal, LG Display Form JV in China for Notebook PC Component Production

Taiwanese notebook PC manufacturer Compal Electronics announced on August 24, 2010 that the company is going to establish a joint venture with Korean LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel manufacturer LG Display in Kunshan of Jiangsu Province, China, according to the Commercial Times of Taiwan. It is reported that Compal's wholly owned unit Compal International Holding will invest US$7.35 million in the joint venture, and the new company will be capitalized at approximately US$15 million. The JV in China is expected to engage in manufacturing notebook PC components, assembling, and marketing.
